What this campaign is — and is not — about

The Rethink Learning Now campaign is supported by a growing coalition of individuals, education advocates, civil rights groups and philanthropic organizations, each of whom shares a commitment to focus the country's attention on three core pillars of successful education reform – learning, teaching and fairness.

We do not assume that these three areas are the only things that matter – just that it is essential to get these areas right when it comes to improving our public education system.

The purpose of the campaign is not to assemble a coalition that eventually puts forth a unified policy platform. The organizations that choose to participate need not agree on everything; indeed, we imagine there will remain core areas on which organizations in this campaign will disagree.

We do, however, believe there is great power in assembling a diverse coalition to say, together, that we believe these pillars are a priority, that we believe there is value in asking our members to reflect on their own personal experiences with these issues, and that we believe we must incorporate the experiences and insights of the American people more fully into the next federal education policymaking process.

Therefore we invite any organization that shares our commitment to these core principles – from any field, industry or political perspective – to join us in using the campaign to engage your members, employees or constituents in a thoughtful consideration of what powerful learning, highly-effective teaching, and a school system committed to fairness actually looks like.

Rethink Learning. Now.
